DHL, UPS, and FedEx from Shenzhen — how long parcels actually take.
The numbers below are the median from our last 400 tracked parcels, not what the courier advertises. US East runs 6–9 days on DHL Express; European capitals 7–11; Latin America 8–17 depending on customs friction. Full country table below with per-country customs notes.

Duty, VAT, and customs handling by region
Below is the customs situation for our four major shipping regions. Nothing here is legal advice; it's what our buyers have consistently experienced over the last 24 months.
United States
Under $800 landed value, parcels typically clear customs without duty (this is the de minimis threshold). Over $800, standard MFN duty rates apply — for leather goods, that's typically 8–20% depending on classification. DHL handles the customs paperwork; if duty is owed, DHL contacts you before delivery. Payment is usually online via the DHL portal.
United Kingdom
Under £135 landed value, VAT is collected at point of sale by the seller (which for us means we pre-collect and remit). Over £135, VAT (20%) plus duty (2–17% depending on classification) is collected by DHL at delivery. For most single-bag orders under £135 declared, delivery is smooth. For orders over that threshold DHL will contact you 1–2 days before delivery for VAT/duty payment.
European Union
Over €150 landed value, VAT (17–27% depending on member state) plus duty (2–17%) applies. Under €150, VAT-only via the IOSS system (Import One-Stop Shop). We can pre-declare a lower unit value on request; note that this is a customs decision on our side and we don't guarantee lower duty for the buyer — we just reduce paperwork friction.
By-country VAT rates: Germany 19%, France 20%, Italy 22%, Spain 21%, Netherlands 21%, Sweden 25%, Belgium 21%, Poland 23%. Duty rates for leather goods are typically 3–8% under HS 4202.
Latin America
Customs handling varies significantly by country. Mexico: bags under $300 clear quickly, over $300 attract 16% VAT plus duty. Colombia: 19% VAT plus duty; Bogotá clearance is fast, Cali slower. Chile: 19% VAT; Santiago hub handles most parcels smoothly. Peru: 18% VAT plus duty; Lima customs is the slow step. Brazil: 60% import tax on private imports over $50 (this is the ICMS+II combined rate — highest friction in the region). Argentina: 50% import tax plus regional customs review; longest transit of any country we ship to.
For any Latin America order over $200, we specifically brief you before shipping about what to expect at customs so nothing is a surprise.
Australia and New Zealand
GST (10% AU, 15% NZ) applies over AU$1,000 (NZ$1,000). Under that threshold parcels clear without additional charge in most cases. DHL is the fastest option to both.
Middle East and Asia
UAE: 5% VAT applies over AED 300. Saudi Arabia: 15% VAT applies over SAR 1,000. Singapore: GST 9% applies over SG$400. Hong Kong: no import tax on personal parcels. Japan/Korea: consumption tax (10%) may apply based on declared value.
Common shipping questions we get on WhatsApp
Can you ship faster than DHL Express?
DHL Express is already the fastest option out of Shenzhen for most destinations. UPS Express Saver runs within 1 day of DHL. FedEx International Priority runs within 1–2 days of DHL. For truly urgent orders (event on a specific date), we can prioritize QC and pickup — the transit time itself is fixed by the airline schedule.
Do you offer combined shipping for multiple bags?
Yes — free consolidation at 3+ pieces. Multiple bags ship in one DHL box, one tracking number. Saves you $30–$50 per additional piece. Message us with everything you want, we quote the consolidated total.
What if my country's customs holds the parcel?
DHL contacts you (via SMS or phone) for any customs issue. Common issues: declared value verification, VAT payment request, or duty payment. We help with pre-declared invoices and can adjust declared value on request. If a parcel is genuinely held (rare, but happens), we refund shipping and re-ship at cost.
Can I use a forwarder or reshipper?
Yes — many US buyers use MyUS, Shipito, or a personal forwarding address to consolidate multiple purchases. If you're using a forwarder, we ship to their US-based address at standard rates. Note: forwarders sometimes add their own inspection/repack step which extends transit by 3–7 days.
What's the risk of a parcel being seized?
Very low for private shipment of individual bags to buyers in the countries we ship to. Customs seizures for personal-use rep bags are rare in the US, EU, UK, and Australia. We've had 3 total seizure incidents in the last 400 parcels shipped — all in Argentina, all replaced free of charge on the next shipment. If you're in a jurisdiction where seizure is a genuine risk for your specific situation, message us before you buy and we'll flag it honestly.
Can I track the parcel in real time?
Yes — the DHL, UPS, or FedEx tracking URL updates in real time. You'll see: Shenzhen pickup → HKG hub → destination country hub → local delivery scan → out for delivery → delivered. Total scan events: 8–12 depending on route. If tracking hasn't updated in 48 hours (rare), WhatsApp us and we push DHL for a status.
Do you offer insurance on the parcel?
DHL Express includes basic insurance up to $100 in the base rate. Higher-value insurance is available at 2–3% of declared value. For Hermes Birkin and Chanel Top Batch shipments we always add insurance and pass the small cost to you at the quote stage.
What about return shipping if I want to send something back?
Return shipping from most countries to Shenzhen costs $60–$120 depending on route. We don't accept returns on taste-based reasons (color, model preference), only on genuine defects — and defects are almost always caught at the QC photo stage. If a real defect makes it through to delivery, we replace on your next order at no cost.
